This past weekend we returned to the Visionary Tattoo Arts Festival for our third year in Asbury Park, NJ. So good to reconnect with old friends and make new ones, both tattoo artists and clients. Building solid relationships is what our business is all about.
One of the reasons we love this festival so much is because it’s right on the beach, but Mother Nature gave us a good run for our money going into Friday and Saturday. While it’s not typical for temperatures in the low 70’s, the beach is still the beach and we love it. Sunday was about as perfect a day as one could ever hope for, which totally made up for it!
The corner booth right at the main entrance was ours, surrounded by some of the most talented artists in the industry. The high ceilings and amazing patina of the Asbury Park Convention Hall makes this one of the most visually appealing places of American nostalgia to hold a tattoo convention at. If only the walls could talk here.
We started every morning at Cardinal Provisions, a short walk from the convention hall. Next time you are in or anywhere near Asbury Park around breakfast, brunch or lunch time, stop in tell them we sent you. Thank us later. Featured here is the weird hash.
There’s a ton of new mural installations up and down the boardwalk in Asbury Park, this one done by Brazilian street artist, Luis Martins, aka L7m. Spend some time to enjoy all of them, it’s one of the best art walks I’ve done in a while.
Possibly the most decadent thing to eat on the boardwalk around midnight after a full day of working the booth is The Elvis, from The Crepe Shop. This is a twist on a somewhat classic, including banana, broken peanut butter cups and nutella. This does not help in any way in keeping a beach bod but is amazing.
Tillie kept an eye over our booth the whole convention.
We had a free-to-enter raffle this weekend, and it’s now time to announce the winner! Pulled at random, the winner of a free laser tattoo removal treatment is Lysanne Loucel. We’ll be emailing you shortly Lysanne, thanks to everyone who entered.
This 3-day weekend was amazing, and went by far too fast. We’d like to thank Shannon and Jon Jon from Triple Diamond Tattoo for being such amazing hosts to their festival this year. It’s always an honor to be involved with tattoo conventions and hang with so many Instagram-friends that live too far to get together with on a regular basis. Such rad art, tattoos, high-fives and good times happened this weekend and we’re already looking forward to next year.
Huge thank you also goes out to all our existing clients who stopped by and all the new clients we met and had the chance to discuss laser tattoo removal treatments with.
